D D R U ready 4 this. Get the kids out of the room!

Right up front I want to say that Ed was a gentleman. Was with me anyway. He's a retired fireman and lives in Natick. ( approx. 25 miles away) He's 81.  He came bearing a live plant of yellow roses, ( which means he read in my profile that I like to smell the roses ) and was attuned to that , so I'd like to think. ;0)  Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

Not being familiar with this area he asked how to get from here to a certain place where he knew they had nice seafood and for the life of me, I don't know how it happened, ( maybe a higher power does ) we drove right by the cemetary. ( Our plots are about six rows up from the street and viewable.) There are many, many, many, other ways to get where we were going. WTF was up with that??? Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

After taking all side kind of roads, we finally get to our destination. A seafood place ...it wasn't open. Opens at noon and we had about an hour to wait. Of course that gave us the opportunity to get to know a little about each other.  He seemed nice ....and SAFE to be with.. Not exactly what I had in mind for looks and height ( then again ....that isn't everything. It's the person.) He opened and shut doors for me. I enjoyed that attention. A little politics was splattered in our conversation as we ate our fried shrimp dinners. We are very close in our views. Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

Back in his car the talk steers to cribbage and camping. Well damn....he had me right there. I shit you not! ;0) Those two things are listed in my profile that he read. Cribbage, camping, dancing.
Would I like to go??? Now????????????????  I threw all sanity to the wind and jumped on it. We drove home to my house and I literally just threw clothes ,etc. into a suitcase. No folding, no arranging. Yep...I lost my fucking mind. I shit you not! Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

We had both talked about our deceased spouses and when he asked me how recent a RECENT WIDOW I was, I was upfront with him. GULP! His wife had passed away 3 years ago.
The gentleman that he was he told me he had three bedrooms and if I didn't feel like I was ready to share his bed, he had another one I could sleep in. He would not do anything I didn't want him to, no meant no and stop meant stop. yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

Back at his house and I admit I felt awkward and I'm sure he did too. He showed me around, we sat and talked, he kissed me a few times ( wasn't my husbands way of kissing) I need to learn not to compare sighhhhhhhhhhh, we watched some tv , he reiterated what he said earlier. Nothing happens if I don't want it to. Come nine thirtyish....oh hell...why the hell not. Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

Ed knows how to arouse a woman....I can't take that away from him. I'm all hot and bothered and............... he tells me he has ED. HUH????  Yeah that's his name, I'm thinking. Well some of you must know what he meant. I didn't! So he explained............ED= erectile dysfunction. :0(
He has tried everything...the pills, the pump. :0(   NO GO. OM fucking word. Just my luck!!!  Ladies, my husband is laughing in his fucking grave. I shit you not!
After a few attempts he gave up and apologized for getting me aroused.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dissappointed. I wanted to cry. Yeah...I was that horny. I'm a bad, bad woman. ;0) I figured no sense backing out of this now. I committed myself to three days and I could use the break. Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

The next morning his motorhome ( a small one, but nice enough ) was loaded and ready to roll. He had called one of his daughters to ask her to book him three nights at this place called Canoe River in Mansfield, I believe it is. Hey...I was just along for the ride. ;0) He'd been there many times with his wife and 5 kids. Was there back in April with ???????????????????  It went unsaid as to with whom.
I heard her ask if he was taking ? ( didn't catch the name) and I heard him say "no." Okay that's cool dad she says. ( Found out later that his youngest daughter in Salem,NH is okay with him seeing other women. So is is oldest that lives in TN. His other two daughters and a son are NOT and are estranged for the most part.  I know from him that his wife died a long hard death over four years of decline with diabetes, lung cancer, etc. but I have no idea how soon he began seeing another woman after she passed away. . Our kids... have their own views on how long you should mourn and I am sure that my hubby's daughter Michelle will not be too happy when she learns that I saw another man this soon after he dad died. sighhhhhhhhh :0(  Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

As we pull out of his yard and head up the street I saw a car facing us parked on the left and heard the horn began to blast, but I thought nothing of it. A neighbor perhaps ....giving another neighbor a salutation by way of car horn. My hubby did that whenever we pulled away from someone we were visiting. Toot, toot, toot. Am I boring you? Just wait ;0)

Miles up the road............... he says to me...there is an 81 year old woman following us.
HUH! WTF!!!  This is NO B/S story ladies.  ONLY TO ME...this happens.  I want to wipe that smile off of hubby's face. ;0) I shit you not!  Long story short, I put pieces together as the days went on that he was best man at her and her deceased husbands wedding and he has been seeing her for about two years. She wanted a commitment, wants to move in and he told her he needed space. He has had to call the cops on her in the past for her stalking and harrassing him. I'm still in shock for lack of another word that an 81 year old behaves like this. I was wishing at that very moment that I had access to a computer to relate everything that was transpiring to you all. OMG.... who woulda thunk it! I shit you not!
This isn't tv or the movies.... I'm in a real life story. Am I boring you? Thought not. ;0)

Some miles later she gives up following us. There was no chase. He did the speed limits. Apologies abounded the rest of the days. Hey.... it jump started my heart. ;0) His too maybe ;0)
We grocery shop for a few things at a store along the way... he checks his receipt to make sure he got his percentage off ( this store gives 20% to customers with cards, we put the groceries away and off we go again. We arrive at our destination ....loads of geese and mallards and one white swan on the pond we are facing. Nice view. It's lunch time..... he looks at me and asked what I wanted to fix.  I say teasingly....Don't look at me, I'm on vacation.;0)
He cooked and I washed the dishes. :0)  We walked around the park some,  holding hands. Most walking he has done in a long time, he said. Has a hip that is bothering him and has been too stagnant at home playing Pogo games.  Needs to walk more, he said. We did.
Here's another ( I don't know what you call it. ) He told me he got up to 213 pounds and said "that's it!) Began eating sensibly and weighing himself every day and is now down to 186, I think he said. Of course at 5 ft 8 inches he still has some weight to lose and I have no doubt that he will.
What I was trying to say is that my top weight was 213 when I said, "that's it!" Now I'm 162.  What's the odds of both of us weighing 213 and deciding it was time to make a change?????????????????
I never told him. Ladies secret. :0)  We played many a game of cribbage and I mean MANY and I did enjoy it, I won't lie. We talked. I learned many things about his life, wife and kids. He was married for 59 years. She was 24 and he was 20 when they met. Married two months later. I filled him on some of my life.....hey a little goes a long way. ;0) He knows about Jill. He knows about Gil. I only told him the good about my husband. He told me that my husband was a lucky man.  He made me feel desirable, always nice compliments on my figure and how I kept my body together. I figure that as I posted right up front on my profile that I had nine kids, guys would think that I was bleh and not be interested. You can't judge a book by it's cover. ;0) He called me doll, sweetie and honey and by my name.  I could not return those endearments. Why????????????????????
I like very much how I can be myself around him. He's that comfortable to be around. I never applied makeup after our first meeting. NOW THAT'S COMFORTABLE! I shit you not!
At night when we'd climb in bed and he would hold me and I could feel and sense the desire....I wanted to JUMP HIS BONES after a little foreplay. I shit you not! He'd say "this is not fair to you" and we'd say goodnight. Ladies, I walked around with a perpectual hard on ( as that male saying goes ) for three days. I shit you not! Nice, nice, guy...............  He asked if I wanted to go camping Labor Day Weekend. I never answered him.  I'd like to..................  When he dropped me at my door , I told him that there would be no kiss goodbye. I know he was hurt, but I have neighbors and let's face it...I'd talk if it was the other way around and I saw my neighbor sharing a kiss three weeks after their husband died. That's human nature. I think............
Come Wednesday ( we were booked to Thursday ) I heard him saying that his mail and newspapers were piling up ( I could hear some concern ) and he was worrying too that his tires were slashed on his car. ;0)  Figured I'd let him off the hook and asked him if he minded if we went home a day early. If that was what I wanted...it was fine with him. What I wanted... GOES, he said. Like I said, he's nice. Very nice. I do not see myself attracted physically to him. Hey Pat...sometimes those things take time to grow on you. With my husband.... the chemistry was there the moment we met. Can I be that lucky again? Who knows. I want to hope so.

Today I'm trying to change my bedroom around. Putting memtos away, packing up his personal belongings to give away. Not all. One day at a time.
Ed isn't out of the picture completely. I did enjoy myself with him.
Michelle just called and will be coming to visit me around 6:30. Wish me luck. (((hugs)))
That's All Folks!

  1. Your so funny! Sounds like a wonderful wkend except for that stalking incident. And the bed thing too, but if he is good compaionship then just let it be that. Now go to another date with someone else and keep on trying. I mean why not you have nothing else to do but be a free bird. I wish you would have been my mother because your wonderful. My mother hated me and still does to this day! Live your last years to the fullest!! Hugs, Pearl

  2. OMG what a great story! I think it's great what you did, like I keep saying, life is too short. My mother got a boyfriend not too long after Dad died, he was an old family friend, my siblings weren't too happy but I thought it was great. They never married but he was more of a father to me in many ways than my own, and I still miss him a lot.
Go for it, and keep having fun! Thank goodness for the internet.
