D D My heart is broken

Called Life Care and spoke to Mary at 7:45 a.m. She isn't the director, but she said she would check things out for me and call me back.
Tried over and over to reach hubby. NO ANSWER!!!!
Sometime around 9ish I called the nurses station and they went into his room and handed him his phone and put me through to him. He said he was sleeping. Breakfast tray was there and everything was uneatable. Toast like bricks is how he described it. Eggs looked so bad he wouldn't touch them either.
AGAIN we went through the Wheaties thing. Told him we were out, ask for any kind of cereal and eat what they bring you.  Somewhere in all this we got back on our house. " if I look out the door I should see my pool shouldn't I ?, he asked.  If you were home you would...said I.
STOP playing mind games with me, he said.  With that ...I wanted off the phone. Told him to eat and I would call him back.
Have done some laundry, fed the dogs and Charlie since I got up at six. It's now 9:30 a.m. and 88 degrees outside. :0(  Fed the birds too and am watering flowers. Tracie got up to use the bathroom awhile ago and went back to bed.  I'm not making it like a motel/hotel here.  I will do what I need to be doing and to hell with the noise.  I shit you not!
A man from Social Services at the V.A. just called. They checked into Life Care yesterday. NO PRIVATE ROOM AVAILABLE! :0( Needs a Private Room because of the C Diff, but he will call back there today and see if their status has changed. Next choice I gave him was Sunny Acres in the next town to me and that's maybe 5  miles away from me and NO HWY driving! :0)

Next my Cher calls to see how I'm doing. Might drive her hubby to work and keep the van and come with Trevor later. Wish I could add a Smiley Face after that sentence, BUT!!!!  sigh!
They all slept downstairs where the ONE and ONLY A/C unit is and her back is killing her from sleeping on the floor. I should buy her an A/C unit.  We'll see.

The Zinc and Vitamin D3  5000 arrived in the mail the other day and I have been taking one of each a day. Here's hoping that those leg cramps will stay away FOR GOOD.

Talked to daughter Michelle at 10:30 a.m. She hasn't been able to get out of bed. :0( The pain and muscle spasms are excruiciating! sigh! Unbeleievable that she has to go like this until NEXT FRIDAY her scheduled surgery day.   Someone on her hubby's side of the family is coming to let her dog Scamp out. Poor doggie needs to go pee and.........  Meantime he is laying in bed with her.

Tracie is still sleeping. I'm still puttering around waiting and HOPING for a call that will tell me he is being transported where I want him to be. I NEED CLOSE AND EASIER TO GET TO. I SHIT YOU NOT!

Well it didn't happen. So far no place wants to give him a Private Room because of the C Difficile or they don't have one available. Social worker said he will begin calling places again Monday.
Towards evening I notcied a large sum of money missing from where I kept it. My heart was broken. I have been so good to my kids.
Called hubby close to nine p.m. to tell him goodnight and that I love him. He again mentioned he has asked for and has not been given Gabapentin for his legs and the Oxycodone, so I hung up and called the nurses station to inquire.  Nooooo, we thought maybe those meds were contributing to his Hospital Delerium. I asked how many days he hasn't had those meds and belive I heard three. With that I said something to the effect that i don't think after 3 days it could be still causing it and she agreed with me.  Then she says, we think he may have the beginning of dementia now.  Long story short...she went and gave him his meds. sigh!
I called him back and he confirmed he got his meds. He saw people going down the hall and said people were heading to Paul's house in back of us and they must be climbing the fence.  Then he saw dave next door opening an envelope outside of his door.  They keep a cart out there with supplies. "He waved to me", he said.  Probably did when he saw hubby looking at him, BUT it wasn't Dave next door. sigh!
Again I said I love you. No reply back.  I asked him if he wasn't going to tell me he loved me.
"Why should I , he said. You're playing me. I'm no fool !  We went into that again. sigh!
I asked him how I could fit in his bed. He agreed it was small. Where is our bed, he asked. Did you give it away.  It's gotten now to where I don't even feel like forming an answer to that crap.
I'm soooooooooooooooooooo down tonight. I just want to get as far away from everybody as I possibly can.  I need a good cry and I can't even have that with Tracie here.
I plan on going to see him tomorrow. Michelle will go with me and we are taking him outside that damned building in his transport chair HEATWAVE or not.   I shit you not!
It's close to midnight. Don't think I will have an easy time falling asleep. sigh!
If I don't have it in me to write tomorrow....just know that I will when I'm ready.

That's All Folks!

D D Who ever said that some things happen for a reason

May NOT have had this in mind!!!!
.....anddddddddddddddddddddddddd I did not have these three things in mind.
Reason #3.  My Cher and her family just came to use the pool and yard. Hubby Dana, daughter Shayla, son Trevor and her daughter's boyfriend ????  Met him a week or so ago, but damned if I remember his name. sigh!
It's HOT as blazes outside. 93 degrees.
Thank you lord...she went out in the yard with her family FINALLY after  my assuring her that she wasn't being ignorant by leaving me ALONE in here. . "Look at my abs and 6 pack, ma"  are not what my mind is on or where it's at. I shit you not!

Reason #2.   Tracie showed here around seven p.m. last night and we went to eat and then to Kohls . ( Wednesday is senior discount day 15% ).  Daughter Michelle arrived back from visiting her dad  with my car just as we were leaving. We ate and shopped and were home here around ten.  Don't know why....BUT costume jewelry has never appealed to me anddddddddddd NOW IT DOES!    Fake turquoise in particular.
Entering my second childhood ,maybe????
She hung around until after eleven. Then went home to her apartment. :0)
I turned in after midnight.
My phone rang at 1:15 a.m.    TRACIE. Her apartment had water an inch deep on the bathroom floor. Earler she had told me she had to have maintainance come as water was coming into her closet AGAIN from the A/C units up on the second and third floor and that is why she was so late getting over to this town.
"Can I come and sleep on Logan's bed", she asked.     Sure.....................   Logan isn't home. Why not!
Got up and put the pouside light on and unlocked the door. Fell back to sleep and never heard her come in. :0)

Reason #1. HUBBY.   This I will make a long story..........SHORT.
His hospital delerium was still apparent at 9 when I talked to him.
Talked to him again around 1 p.m.  In between times of calling him each day there are many times the phone does not get answered unless someone is in his room at that time. This time someone was changing his pull up.  He tells me that Anthony ( his brother's old friend ) from P.T. at this hospital came to exercize him and he cried, "Mr B what happened to you ???" He asked hubby with the help of another attendant to take 3 steps towards him with his crutches and he about collapsed to the floor.  Ma...Anthony says I need to go to a  Nursing Home rehab for physical therapy. .  In my heart of hearts I knew that he should go into a place for P.T. instead of coming home. sigh!
One of his doctors called me during this call and I said goodbye and talked to his doctor. I mentioned Anthony and what he said. She said, Oh I'm glad someone does know his base line and that's what my call is about. Physically he can be treated at home with meds as they are all taken orally. I know that you are willing to welcome him back into the home, but we think he needs to be some place for rehab.  At home if he falls things can get much worst.  sigh!  So it's out of my hands now. I told her I would like him to go to the place where we know people just 2 miles down the street ( no hwy ) and she said when she speaks to his social worker she will tell her that.  I want him where I can bring him things easily. Like his gatorade , foods he likes and visit OFTEN to make sure he is getting physical therapy like he should be.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

I could not wake up this morning for the life of me. At 3 a.m. Lady was whining her little whine to be let out to go pee. Did not want to go at eleven when I tried to get her out the back door. Ran into her kennel instead. sigh! At five a.m. Cash wanted out of Jill's room to go pee and begin his day. :0( Got up and let him out and fed him.  Climbed into bed again and Cash joined Ginger and I in the bed. :0(
Woke every so often as in my mind I was waiting for the time I could call hubby. Tried at eight a.m. No answer. Back to sleep I went. Then when I did get to talk to him I was NODDING OFF.  I shit you not!
Ma, we have Wheaties in the kitchen, don't we??? Yes.
I keep telling these girls that we have them in the kitchen and they won't get me none.
Me: That's too bad honey.........silence and I nod off.
Is Jill home yet? She hasn't come into my room.
Me:  No, not yet. Him: I didn't think so. ( I don't have a date of her return as of today. )  Silence. I drift off.
Him: Is Logan home yet? I haven't seen him either. Me: No.
There was more, but I didn't retain it. sigh!
Knew I SHOULD not get behind the wheel of my car to go visit himand I didn't. When his doctor asked me if I was coming up today I told her no, BUT not without GUILT.  sigh!

IN and OUT! Everyone is coming in and out and some are staying IN!
Now we have Trevor on the internet and Shayla and ? watching TV.  Dana just used the restroom and stopped in my room to inquire about hubby and I was telling him some of it.
Tracie should be back around now. It's almost four.  Randy is working on the shed on the other side of the house. Brought a girl with him. She lives in his trailer park with her mom and is very quiet. Doesn't drink or smoke and I think I was given the impression that she isn't all there either. sigh! She's 42 he said.
Asked him who she was and why she wasn't out at the pool is how this onfo came to light.  He said maybe later he will bring her over to the pool.  Yesterday he brought someone he met and her four year old son Devonrick. The boy swam and seemed to have fun.I say that because he didn't want to get out of the pool and leave. ;0)  His mother looked young to me and was very polite. Told me I had a beautiful place and thanked me for letting her be there. Also told me that I had a wonderful son, polite and a gentleman. I raised a fine son.  No one stops to help you often and he stopped and repaired her car for her.
Randy is saying, remember what she said about raising a fine son when you bail me out again ma.
Yeah RT!!! She could not believe she told me how he does everything for himself. Folds his clothes neatly and keeps his house spotless. I trained him well....says SHE!   IT has nothing to do with moi..... it's one of his DX's.
Now it's Cher's turn to be in .
The A/C is on.  I'm not going anywhere soon. Just go with the flowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
On second thought....let me go to the other side of the house and ask Randy if that girl/woman has had anything to drink.  I'll bb later.

I have company for a second night.  Most likely Friday and the weekend too until her apartment leak is fixed.
Tracie just flipped on the tv to hear the news. This one in my room hasn't been on since hubby went to the hospital .  Haven't been interested in watching TV. I shit you not!
Tonight hubby asked me if I was having another story added on the house. A nurse told him there was scaffolding outside the building and another floor was being added. sigh! Yeah ...At the VA Hospital.
I went along with it. He asked me where I put all my stuff in the attic, my N.E.Village and other Christmas stuff ( see he remembers that stuff ). I told him I hadn't had to move it yet. sigh!
He saw Cash out in the yard yesterday through the window.  Oh and last night someone was playing loud music in our neighborhood and he could hear the sirens as the cops approached ( ambulance arriving at the VA Hospital ...could that be. ) sigh!
A German Shepard was shut up in our shed.  He thinks maybe Randy put it in there.
I ?We Micheele and I figured out why he asked what kind of Mickey Mouse shelving Randy put behind our bed.  Our headboard has a flat top and he just reaches back to sit his eyeglasses down when he is going to sleep for the night. Welllllllllllllll at the hospital there is no headboard and his eyeglasses fall behind his pillow between the mattress or to the floor.
Another thing that astounded/FLOORED me was , very seriously he said. " What time did you leave the house today? I didn't see you leave."  sigh!!!!!!!!
Tracie had left for awhile and when she came back in he heard the dogs barking. "My dogs, I hear Ginger barking." Yep, says I.  "Why can't I see Ginger." Maybe because they are home and you are in a hospital, says I.  " You mean they won't  let the dogs in the room to see me.  That's not right! They were here before they were. "     sigh!!!!!
Some things he is right on SPOT with. Has not brushed his teeth. Told him a basin and that kind of stuff is on his nightstand.  Apparently NO ONE has handed him a basin and water ( warm or cold ) to wash up with. I know I'm right about that. It has all kinds of products in it, but that's what it's whole purpose has been since I have seen it.  He does get a clean Johnny put on and his pull up changed. THAT's IT. I shit you not!
It's happened before as recently as when he was in a private hospital in Florida. One would think a person would get better care there for the amount of money the hospitalization costs, but ALAS , NO!
The taste and feel in his mouth is causing him to be unconfortable. sigh!
IF I go tomorrow or Michelle he will get his toothbrush and some toothpaste handed to him. May even take his transport chair into him so we can get him into the bathroom to a sink.  Great looking tub bench in that shower too.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm  MAYBE!
I asked him if he wanted ice cream. Just ask someone when they come into your room. "They're not going to give me ice cream", " I asked for coffee and never got it."
Sooooooooooooo I dialed the nurses station and asked if someone could please give him ice cream. Sure....what flavor she asked. Vanilla or chocolate. He likes them both, said I.
Called him an hour later and he had got ice cream.  :0)  I have PULL!  :0)
Now...maybe I should call in the morning and ask that he get a toothbrush and toothpaste handed to him.
He can barely see, can't get out of bed to go look for that stuff....WTF!
No one called about moving him into a rehab place.  sigh!  My mind goes places like...maybe I should go over to the place here in town and ask if they have an open bed for him.  I know one of the women in the office there. She was a chiropractic patient at where I worked and we share the same birthday...just different years. ;0)  Mary and I always have a warm Hello for each other.

What a HEATWAVE we are having and hubby is freezing. Even with two blankets on. sigh!
Daughter Michelle's FIL's second lung is filling up. Double pneumonia.   Surgery on her back will be next Friday and there is no guarantee that it will give her the complete use of her leg back. She may have to wear a brace on it for the rest of her life. Then this with her dad. The pain is awful. The steroid she is on has her taste thrown off amongst other things.  She's breaking down crying. She will be laid up quite awhile after the surgery. Will need P.T. too.

Wonder how late Tracie will stay up.  ?????? This isn't home!!!!   I've heard her say she stays up late and sleeps during the day.   Eff ME!!! I shit you not!

Eleven fifteen. There is a TV in Logan's bedroom.  Going to go give her a hint or two or three.
In all good conscience I must make that drive to see hubby tomorrow, UNLESS I get an early call telling me that they are moving him.

D D Any way you look at it

Going to bed around eleven and waking at five makes for a longgggggggggggggggggg day and NOT ENOUGH SLEEP.  I shit you not!

I have been washing the dog beds in preperation for giving all three dogs a FLEA BATH.
They are LOADED with fleas.    If I get this under control I WILL SHOOT the first one that lets Cash get close to another dog when they are out walking him. I shit you not!

It's 6:40 a.m. now. Too early to call a hospital and when It's a good time after 8 a.m. or so, I will.

Called at 8:30 after I gave all three dogs a flea bath and sat in my wet clothes hoping to hear him sound better.  He did in a way.  Was eating his breakfast, so that was a good sign.
Bottom line is.... he is somewhat.....knows the date, etc., but still thought he was home.
Daughter Michelle took my car and went to visit him this afternoon.  I , ME , cleaned out the back shed and still have more to do in there.  Why do we keep the shit we keep??????   Yeah, I don't know either.  Maybe some day I, WE or someone will need it is what I reckon too. ;0)
His doctor called me and was talking about how she thought he would do better at home. ME, I'm thinking once he is back from where ever he is....yeah.
Told her that Michelle was there visitng him as we speak and she said she would go meet and talk with her.
Bottom line...she told Michelle she could release him as early as tomorrow.   WTF!!!!
Guess if you have no medical problem........OUT you go!
He will be taking antibiotics until August 2nd for the C Difficile, but those he can be given at home.

It just turned midnight.  Cinderella's chariot/Queen size bed awaits her. ;0)
OH, his doctor told me he didn't go to sleep until four a.m.   WT HELL!  What happened to the sleep aidmthey told me that they were giving him last night ????
He had less sleep than me .............UNLESS you count all his naps.
TONIGHT she said...  Yeah, I've heard that before.  sigh!
One good thing she told me was that he hadn't been agitated today.  Could it be because I didn't visit him. ;0)
DIL Deb said as a nurse for over 25 years she has seen alot of this behavior and for me not to take what he says personally or to stress myself out over something that I can't control.  I'll try.
I'm so tired that for lack of a better choice of words...I'm struggling to keep a conversation going.

D D It's frightening

To see and hear him this way.
Spent four hours at the hospital and another hour added on each end for the drive to and from.
HE WILL NOT BELIEVE THAT HE IS IN THE HOSPITAL!
He insists that he is HOME!
I called him tonight just after nine to tell him goodnight and he said, " so you aren't coming home again tonight ", real accusatory. Told me to stop playing games with him, not to call him, he isn't stupid so stop trying to make him out to be stupid.
So many things he said were hurtful and untrue. It kills me that he believes them. sigh!
He claims no one has been to the house to see him. NOT EVEN ME!  He can't find Ginger and he told one of the nurses that came into the room that I must have put her out to pasture. "Now why would she do that" the nurse said. "I don't know", said he.  Some of the things he said today were so outlandish that they were laughable. Others, NOT SO!
They have taken everything off him. No IV's. Just a rubber with a catheter attached and he still trys to get out of bed to go pee in the bathroom. Alarms goes off and nurses come running. It takes two to restrain him and coax him to lie back down and relax as they show him the catherter and tell him he is peeing in that.
He's yelling "Get the fuck away from me, Leave me the fuck alone, I need to get in the fucking bathroom to pee", on and on. sigh!
They gave him a shot in his stomach to prevent blood clots again while I was there and a liquid form antibiotic.  Tonight they are going to give him something to more or less put him out , Nurses will not wake him to do vitals. They just want him to sleep undisturbed and hopefully he will come back from where he is. They seem to think he will. It was explained to me that with every hospital stay he has got more and more disoriented. It happens to some of us a we get older.  I can't remember the name of the sleeping aid, BUT I will inquire again.   He has had nothing before tonight to help him sleep.  ( I WILL DOUBLE CHECK ON THAT )  Thank you Judy for telling me about Ambien.
Either I see MY HUSBAND back tomorrow or I want MORE ASSURANCE that this isn't permanent.  I shit you not!

I need to sleep. This whole day keeps playing out in my head.  I keep saying, " this can't be real."

D D Something new???

Ho Ho Ho and

Not so Ho Ho Ho
My rear was dragging today so suffice to say, I did not get up to see hubby today.
Daughter Michelle did AFTER she went to see a surgeon whom will operate on her spine L4 and L5 next Wednesday and from there she drove quite a distance into New Hampshire to visit with her hubby's dad.
Jack is around 84 and things do not look like they will have a happy ending with him. :0(
Drove back home, took a nap and then drove into Boston to see her dad.
He WAS NOT HIMSELF!    I thought it was odd that he was asking me if he was in a kids room and something about it looking like Disneyland. ?????  He wasn't very talkative so I said my goodbyes and told him I would call him later.  I did, but either got a busy signal or no answer. sigh!
When Michelle got there the phone line was open. He had never hung up on who he talked with. :0(
She came here after her visit to tell me the latest.  He is hallucinating. sigh. When she enetered his room he had only a towel covering him and insisted his sheets were wet from the rain.  He pointed to the ceiling tiles. She felt the sheets where he threw them. . DRY! No amount of assurance could convince him otherwise. Even to feel the sheet for himself.
Then he saw iclcles hanging from the curtains. She would go over to the window and swing her arms as if to knock them down and he would tell her they were still there. He told her he walked down the hall and saw a beautiful wooden chair some man was carving and he wanted one.  ( he can't walk. )
About this time MY MIND CLOSED DOWN to any more she told me.   She spoke with nurses. They too have seen the bizarre way he is acting and told her he is not getting morphine or anything else like it today. Just his regular meds.  WTF!!!!!
Looks like I gather my strength tomorrow and go see first hand for myself . I shit you not!
I can't even begin to imagine why he is acting this way.
Did have her call me before she left there from his room phone and had an echo and we couldn't ( either of us ) understand what one or the other was saying.
It's after eleven p.m.  Going to climb between the sheets and call it a day and A NIGHT!.

D D Update on hubby

Hubby was not doing good when I called the hopsital to talk to him.  One of his nurses handed him the phone and I couldn't get anything coherant out of him.
All I could understand was that he was in pain. sigh!
Showered, dressed and braved the highway once again.  Not much traffic. :0)
Got lost again. Thought I had it figured out, BUT.
Unlike men, I pulled into a gas station and passed by cars with people filling their tanks and saw a van about ready to leave. Two big black guys were in it and when I asked for directions they did me ONE BETTER.
Follow us ...we're heading that way.  :0) Led me right there.

Hubby was NOT GOOD!  His doctor came in to talk to me. Blood tests, urine tests, cat scan showed NOTHING.  YET before me was a man who hurt all over, could not stand to be touched, refused his meds, could not or would not drink or eat anything.  Not only that but when his two sisters called he didn't know who they were. Ann WHO? Peggy WHO? Daughter Michelle called. Michelle WHO?   It was scarey to witness him this way.  Totally 100% not himself, I told his doctor.  They decided to do more blood work and another C Scan as they may have missed something. She explained what he was having was not dementia, it was delerium from the pain he was in.   Daughter Michelle and grand daughter Theresa came to see him.
I had gone for a long walk to the E.R. to see what they did with his glasses and shirt he wore when we brought him in.  They are still amongst the missing. :0( sigh! Came back to his room to see Michelle and Theresa gowned up.  WTF????  Blood test this afternoon showed he had C Diff.  Geeeesh! They say that antibiotics cause C Diff.  Well hell it's been awhile since he had the UTI and was on antibiotics. That didn't show up until in this p.m.'s bloodwork.     Have to wash hands before leaving the room and put gown on when entering now.  Sometime after four he still hadn't had another C Scan , but his doctor decided to start antibiotics to treat him as if he had diverticulitis and give him morphine in his IV for the pain.  By then I had listened to him incoherant and every time they had to work on him he was in more agony for a good five hours.  EVENTUALLY the morphine worked and SOB if he didn't start to put sentences together and improve. Not hat he was his old self, but Hell I'll take what I saw any day over what he had been like when I came.He had been trying repeatedly to get out of bed to go pee. We had to keep restraining him. When I first came they were removing his Foley catherter and putting a condom on him to urinate through.  He had been trying to rip the catherter out. No No No No No...BIG OUCHIE if he had done that.
His scrotum is all raw, he has another fungal mess down there ....Let's just say....he's a efffen mess.
Got home around 6ish.  Made a few calls to his sisters and the phone rang.
HUBBY WAS ON THE OTHER END!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I shit you not!
He even remembered our telephone number and he never uses it. :0) Had a nurse dial it.
He actually sounded good.  NOT ALL like himself, but Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww much improved.  Now if they could only find out what is causing his pain.  sigh
Went out with Tracie to grab a bite around 8.  It's now 9:30 p.m. and she is leaving and I AM HITTING THE SACK.  It's been a longgggggggggggggggggggg day. I shit you not!
