Dear Diary, Nothing stays the same.

Sometimes the change is good, sometimes not!
Just when things seem certain, they aren't!

Take for instance my sis in law Ann. She is in her early 70's and has been going down hill for at least 5 years now. For those that cared for and helped her by taking her shopping, to doctor visits, etc.  and listening to her hurtful tongue as dementia set in, it seemed there would be no end to her 30 plus calls a day to her older sister. Either she would forget where she put phone numbers, things, or didn't remember calling...well you get it.
My sis in law Peg ( age 80 ) was so worried about what would become of Ann and she and her family were the brunt of most of her calls. Not only was Peg stressed with Ann, but her husband had an aneurism years ago that after bringing him back from no heart beat, to brain surgeries, to years of being dependent on her for everything just about, and he too is now suffering from dementia. Doesn't remember his mother's maiden name, nor the fact he had open heart surgery just months ago. sigh!
To make a long story short, Ann had an aneurism/stroke October 2nd and was on life support. The decision was made by surviving family members and her doctor to remove her from life support.
She remains unable to move, talk or even appear alive, except for shallow breathing.
Today she was moved to a rest home and that is where she will remain until.....................

Oh how she fought at even the suggestion of a nursing home when ever someone would suggest she needed better care. Constantly lost weight, would forget to take her meds. didn't eat right. hoarded food. Peg would have to throw bad food out and get yelled at.

Just 2 weeks ago Ann called my house and left a nasty message saying she knew it was me that stole her jewelry and why did I take it.
My Jill called to tell me about the message on the answering machine.
First I called Peg to see if she knew anything.  She didn't, but told me all Ann had was a couple of rings and went on to tell me the grief they were getting, as she has done in other calls, bringing me up to date.
Once I hung up, I dialed Ann.
She sounded like I was her long lost friend and went on for a good hour ranting about her siblings and how if my hubby, (her brother Mike ) was alive, they'd clean house with the others.
Never mentioned any jewelry.
A week later she walked to her is' Peg's house and Peg saw a ring on her finger. Exclaimed to her, oh Ann, I see you found your jewelry."  She in turned exclaimed that she never lost her rings.
Poor Ann.  She was always going to sue this one and that one in her family. In her mind ONLY she had reasons. So sad.
The day she had the stroke, she had walked to peg's ( just blocks) and when she left she promised she would call and say she got home alright. An hour went by and the Peg called. No answer. She figured she was outside talking with her neighbors in senior housing.  Don't know how long she was on her floor after the stroke, but her neighbor heard her cry for HELP sometime after dark and they broke a window to get in, but by that time it was too late to give her that shot that might reverse some of the stroke. She was in a coma and that is more or less where she remains now.

Remembering back to when I saw no end ...................  There was!
There are times I wish that I had my old life back, but then I regain my senses.
Mike would not have wanted to be alive now and I would have had a nervous breakdown.
He's out of pain, it's what he wanted for years. CHANGE made this possible.

Change, whether it's in one's life or the seasons, is inevitable.
Whether you want it or not! I shit you not!  (((hugs)))

That's All Folks!
