D D A most unusual Labor Day

For many years this long weekend has found me busy cooking and cleaning.
This year there is no cookout and I really am enjoying it.
It's time my grown kids find another way to spend their Labor Day weekend.
I'm not saying I will be giving it up altogether. Maybe next year I will feel more perky.

This morning I forced myself to knit 10 rows on Ryu's sweater before I started writing in here.
Lately I prefer to zone out instead of concentrating.
A sweater pattern takes concentration.
Gone are the days when I would crochet a full sized  afghan in a week. .sigh!
If I was unable to knit or crochet, I would be miserable.
What I need to do is get the lead out of my ass and get busy. I shit you not!

Jill worked a Gothic wedding yesterday at the Commanders Mansion in Watertown,MA.
Bride was a Bridezilla and the groom was Casper milktoast.
The men wore rented costumes ....the old timey wear as Jill worded it.
Didn't catch what her bridesmaids wore.
Her dress was black and red. Her mother made covers for the chairs and tables in black and red.
Inside the old mansion it was good for  picture taking. Fit the theme so to speak.
Outside on the grounds where the meal was served....not so much.
The brides hair was black with red streaks too. To each their own.
Bride and groom never smiled for a picture and Jill said very few guests smiled. hmmmmmmmmmmmm
The bride also did alot of bitchin and was snapping at her mother, which rounds out this picture. :0(
Pretty is as pretty does, my mother use to say.

Kid#4 Randy came with our order of tonic from NH where it's cheaper to buy.
Spent time asking him about GPS systems. Out of hubby's ear shot.... of course.
Christmas comes before you know it and sales will begin soon. Looking for a good buy on one that comes highly recommended.    Price does matter. :0)

Me, myself and I think the following pictures are eye candy.
Feel the need to share.

Mother Nature has some beautiful colors of her own.
Some days I do have time to smell the roses

Just did a little visiting.  Nephew Drew sent his husband Patrick over with some pulled pork they made the other day.
Hubby will enjoy it!! :0)
I'll have BLT's while he eats pulled pork in a bun. It's Win, Win all around.
Took a walk to the garden to see if any of his seedless tomatoes are red.
Some were....but have seeds upon being sliced open. Go figure!
Tell me now....how do you plant seedless tomato seeds and expect to get fruit with no seeds ???
Still it's a disappointment when you pay good money for the seeds and hubby has been waiting and waiting to enjoy a tomato. sigh!

As you might know, I hardly ever post in one sitting. In fact I can't remember one time.
Made us burgers for lunch and always get up and down during the day to get the blood flowing so to speak.
Jill is making a quick corn bread. Using buttermilk in this recipe.  Hubby will enjoy it I'm sure.
Sometimes...so do I.   Nice and warm. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Earlier she made the grocery list out and I handed her $160... Think I got $20 in change back.
Mind you....we are four and sometimes when Butch eats... 5 people. Also,  it's not a weeks worth of groceries.
It has to be very hard for alot of people to give their families a healthy meal every day.
Never did I imagine that a loaf of bread would cost what it does now.
Grocery stores have not come down on prices since the gas prices came down.
Granted the gas prices didn't go back to where they were, but still.give us a break!
For sure the wealthy have no idea what it's like to make do and do without.
If all you can afford is starchy products and even those are not cheap anymore....how do they expect us to be healthy and at a good weight.
Hardly any wonder why more and more obese and morbidly obese are making the news.
Try to buy fruit for a family!!!!  Prices are ridiclous.
Except for a few bananas & some grapes on sale... for the most part, I just let them sit on the shelves.
Wish someone would do a show with our elected officials being given only a cretain amount of money that the average Joe the Plumber has and send them out to shop for a weeks worth of groceries.
Seven breakfasts' , lunches and suppers.  Fruits and beverages.
Then figure out what the average family can buy on their earnings. Let alone the people on a fixed income and the people without a job through no fault of their own.
My gut feeling is they have no concept of what we are experiencing. I shit you not!

Ryan and Sarah just came..They were bored at their apartment. Had a great time in Florida and are now officially broke.
I'm going to pick up my knitting and visit with them awhile.
They are use to it. :0)
That's All Folks!

  2. Ah, it's so true what you said about the fruit. I've been trying to eat healthier since I put on so much weight but it adds a minimum of $20 on my grocery bill. How are we supposed to have healthy lifestyles if it is more expensive than junk food?

Glad you had a relaxing day.
