D D Busy Day....much to tell,

but where to start!
I'll just try to make things simple and short.  You know me though...I can't promise. ;0)
Jill and I kept that appointment with her old attorney at 1 p.m. at the resthome/rehab.  Before I even made it down the hall I was met by the social worker who told me that hubby has been complaining of stomach pain ( well DUH! )  Yes he has been...since sometime last week to nurses and staff and myself.
It's NOT something new. I shit you not!   Then she tells me he hasn't been eating.  WTF! I told her all the food I saw him eat last night. yeah...he don't like most of your foods, but he ate the seafood salad roll I brought him in last night and the soup on his tray and the $1.99 cup of Tirimisu that I thought I would go bananas over watching him eat it. He ate every morsel and kept scraping the sides of the cup and lapping the spoon ( over and over ) and i couldn't see an efffin speck of food on that spoon. Then he ate the  diced up cantelope and honey dew melon  cup ( seeds were in it ) HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO  He has diverticulitis.  Then she goes and tells me that they do not plan on discharging him tomorrow and to talk to his nurse Kim
You betcha sweet bippie I will.
Kim tells me that they have made an appointment for him to have a scan done on his stomach as he has a history of diverticulitis ( yeah ...DUH! ). How's he getting there, I asked. Heard something like wheelchair van. Where.....some place in the same town. Which means co-pays.  Big FAT Co-Pays that we will have to pay. I mentioned us taking him to the V.A. for that testing once he's home.  It's FREE there.   Ohhh we asked him if he minded staying another few days so he could have these tests and he said he didn't mind.  Some other nurse stood beside her and said, " he's not going home tomorrow." I can't remember what I said and I can't remember what Jill said to rebuke their authority, but ( I'll make it short ;0)  ) they changed their tune! I shit you not !
There are alot of beds empty there and I am sure they could use the extra money if he stays a few more days, BUT so can I ....use the money.
Once hubby was told by MOI that if he stays WE PAY ....He was ready to LEAVE tomorrow.

Jill's attorney talked with hubby. He understood what he was signing and told Roland that it's always been one of his worries that I would be left without money and he wanted me to act in his behalf in all matters.
The DPOA was witnessed by Myrna( their Activity Director ) that we have known for many years and she has been to cookouts here with her hubby and by Jill.
Roland was filled in on what has been happening with Work Comp and I am going to go through an attorney he recommended. Once home I called that other attorney and told his secretary I didn't need him anymore. I got the DPOA and I don't need him for anything else. I'm expecting a call from him...I don't like confrontation ( as you all can tell ) BUT I will stick to my guns. I didn't like him when I met him. I don't care how good of a W.C. Attorney he is. He is LOUD and braggy.  Roland is soft spoken ...I don't know what I will think of this other attorney as I haven't spoke or met with him yet.
Once back to the house from the signing of the DPOA, Jill went to collect the mail out of the mailbox and brought it in and put it on the table.  NINE envelopes from the W.C. Insurance Co.  Inside one was hubby's weekly check and the other eight held checks in varying amounts. 37  and some odd K, 28 and some odd K ....all different amounts, but they totalled up to what they said they owed us. A little over 274K.
Right away calls were made to Roland and my son in Florida. Advise given by both. COPY THE CHECKS. PUT THEM IN THE BANK. COPY DPOA and carry it everywhere I go. Let the nursing home?rehab know I have it and that hubby will not be making his own decisions any more. Let all my kids know i have it and they are not to make any decisions about him healthwise or otherwise.  I FEEL LIKE I AM ON OVERLOAD!  I shit you not!
One thing for SURE without being told....I don't want Tracie to know that I have this money.  I shit you not!
I have nine kids.... NOT TEN !!!!!

SO,,,everything has hit so fast.....and tomorrow BY HOOK OR BY CROOK hubby will come home.
I asked...test for UTI was NEGATIVE.  He dearly/desperately needs to see a dermatologist about that extremely painful sore on his chest. I called today and someone was covering and could not overbook. He told me my best shot was to speak to the guy who runs that department after 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. Only HE can make those kinds of decisions.
Making my TO DO LIST for tomorrow and that's NUMBER ONE on the list. :0)
I know I'm putting alot of extra work on myself having hubby at home.  I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.  First...let's see what he can and can't do for himself.

Before I FORGET ....The W.B. sped off in his truck when he dropped Jill off last night around 10.
He had ordered her to take that ring she got in Key West off and put his mother's ring on. For the umpteenth time...she refused.  It just has the word West on it. Cost $45 which her friend Chris wanted to pay for and they are nothing more than FRIENDS. It's a ring that she would have paid for herself....because when she sees the word WEST she thinks of her dead father who was born and lived most of his life in the town of West,TX and died there.
Before the W.B. drove off I heard him yelling that he was going to kill himself and it would be ALL HER FAULT. In case you are wondering....he's still alive today. She is not answering his calls.   She and I ate supper together at the Outback. I called hubby to see if he wanted us to bring him the meal he loves and he didn't want a big meal.  IF it had been in front of him, I truly think he would have eaten it.  She ordered a rum and coke. I ordered at Peachy Strawberry Sangria with my meal . I drank the entire glass and she left half of hers.  Yep...I ASKED WHY.  Wasn't in the mood to drink. Whatever the efff that means, but I'll take it.
I shit you not!

Guess what hubby had on his lunch plate at noon.  He had taken a bite and it was disgusting he said .  He couldn't identify what it was ...neither could I and i wasn't about to taste it so I asked the aide in his room.  STUFFED TOMATOES 2 of THEM.
They keep feeding him SEEDS and he will never get rid of the diverticulitis.
A-HOLES!
When I left the social worker stopped me and said that if his bloodwork comes back fine we can take him home tomorrow.
FOR HER INFO...................
Have DPOA....will flash it tomorrow.  I shit you not!

That's All Folks!

  2. Wow, that's quite a payload. When you were talking about fighting for his checks, I had no idea it was for so much money. Get yourself some help when you bring hubby home. You can't do it all. Bout time you start realizing that.

  3. And we wonder why people go f**king crazy! Just deal with the system and you will either kill someone or land up in the looney bin. You are doing great getting onery, because that's what it takes to rattle a cage. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. It's a shame we have to go there but we are left with NO choice. Thank god you got your money at least that finally got done. Poor hubby they just want decent food, and he will eat. He would be better off at home if you can manage. Jill needs to help you out more since she's living there. I really feel for you guys wish I could help sweetie! Pearl

  4. Glad you got your money, and that you now have the power of attorney thing, two things you don't need to worry about now. Plenty of other stuff to worry about I know but you'll be fine, you are doing what is right for you and for him, just take any help that is offered.
