All the 5th grader classes are participating in a re-inactment of the Colonial Days today.
Parents were made aware of it by a note sent home which told of how your child should be dresssed and what you should make to eat ( recipes sent home of a Colonial times food to make ). Come hungry, it reads.
The frilly shirt.............. they can forget.
It was like a scavenger hunt today to get Logan dressed appropriately. The white nylon dress shirt and dark navy pants he had from choir were in his closet . Shirt is getting snug....can tell by that he has grown.
Jill knew she had a nice leather vest in the attic. Dropped the folding stairs down and up she went to rummage. I had a pair of papa's heavy old long socks at the ready.
After realizing that today was the day ,when all the commotion began .... a lightbulb went off in my head that I had some nylon stretch socks.
Found the tan, nope, have to be dark. Rummaged around some more and found my black pair. Walla!
Logan insisted he had to participate in the cooking of the Spanish Rice..... off to the store they rush to get sausages and canned tomatoes... Folks .............if any of you have a wealth of information on the meals cooked during those times, pray tell..............did those peoples really have sausages? Oh....and olives?
Phone rang after they went to the grocery store. Hubby's new primary care doctor at the V.A. Clinic was the 1st caller. I had called yesterday asking to have his pain medication refilled.
This has to be done every month, two days before he runs out. You call on the 26th day to be able to pick it up on the 28th day. One more thing I have to remember to do each month. His other meds I call for refills when he gets low and they are mailed.
When did I see your husband? Told him that he hadn't. When did your husband last see Dr.W----?
Duh...brain didn't remember the date, so I told him to look in his computer.. He did.....ahhh okay I see the date.
Ahhhh, well I like to meet my patients and know their medical conditions.
Directed to the computer again...by moi. Ahhh, see extensive records. Yepper, that be him, I'm thinking.
When do you want this medication, he asks... Tomorrow , that's why I called yesterday...I replied.
We meet this new doctor in July.............sigh!
Next phone call...Butchie. Asking if they had left for school yet.. Told him they were at the store.
Next phone call was from Jill...."Put 6 cups of water on to boil, please."
It's 8:26 a.m. and they just walked out the door with the food placed in a crockpot as directed by his note. He has a serving spoon, the electric cord, small plates and disposable spoons in his backpack. . The aroma left from the Spanish Rice cooking is making me hungry.
School starts at 8 a.m. Logan would not take ..I'll bring it with me at 9 from his mother.
Told her he had to bring it with him when he went to school and set it up himself................
Myself , I'm chuckling as I heard her tell Butchie her day had started out not so good.
She has to go back up to the school at 9 to view his portfolio and then participate in the food tasting the kids put on.
Trust me folks, if I had the day she had yesterday I wouldn't be able to get up off the bed and the smell of any food would gag me. I shit you not!
Yesterday she left at 12:30 p.m.
Never to be seen again until 9 p.m. At which time she was mighty unsteady on her feet.
I began preparing supper last night around 5:30 and Butchie came through the door looking for Logan.
Taking him out to eat steamers, etc. and to see the new boat he bought.
Yeah, you read that right! Boat.... He has one already. Going to be without a place to lay his head down soon....remember? Idjut!
Asked him where Jill was....over D.. and T's house. Going to go get her and we'll go eat and see my boat.
Wrapped the chicken pot pie I had taken out for Logan back up and put it in the freezer.
Folks, I don't know how she is functioning today, but she is. Betcha she rather be in bed though. hahaha!
Heard her ask him how come he didn't remind her last night when they were out eating. LOL
Logan got another view into his papa's life as a kid, this morning.
Having socks pulled up over the bottom of his pants, made it appear he were wearing knickers.
Papa wore knickers to school.
Logan thinks he looks like a young Ben Franklin.
Jill was just looking at the schedule for this function.. View portfolio from 9 to 9:30..... Food tasting at 10 a.m. What do parents do from 9:30- to 10 ????
Tried to wear my thinking cap and could not remember these school events when my kids were in school.
Maybe it's like childbirth....your memory fades...LMAO at that one.
I can tell you one thing......she was dressed better yesterday when she went out. Wore a cotton dress.
Has her mow the yard clothes on. Nylon pants with white paint stains and an old short sleeved jersey.
Chuckle.....I asked her if she was going to change..... the answer was, no. No shower either. hahahahaha
My wheels are turning as I type....if she goes to bed when she gets home, I'm sure I can find a way to make NOISE.....I shit you not!
Was thinking of letting my hair go back to it's natural color..................which at the age of 73, I am sure it's now white. It would fit my mood at times...old, older yet and don't give a shit any more OLD.
Have 2 boxes of ash blonde still, so it's a down to the wire decision.
Getting my hair cut at noon. Chrys had arm surgery and postponed our haircut appointment in May.
Waste 2 bottles of dye or wait to go white.
Two days ago it would have been an easy decision. Leaning towards the ash blonde, but maybe the white would make my kids realize I am getting up in years.
Just because I can move around easily doesn't mean I'm a Spring Chicken. I shit them not!
If I keep twisting my hair and yanking on it, I won't have any hair to worry about.
It's a nasty, unconcious habit I picked up a year or more ago.. Years ago I would twist the ends of my hair in the side or back. ....now I begin the twisting in the front of my head at the scalp and tug. sigh!
Pitcures of the 2 different honeysuckles in the back yard. The pinkish is to the left of my bedroom and oh what an aroma greets you when you step out.
That's All Folks!
